Splatnews: Funding, Contributors and More
Good morning Deviants! I hope all of you are doing well. I have some fantastic news.
Last night, Splat Speaks was funded throughout the rest of the year thanks to an incredibly generous contribution. Give @ChumsKnifeBlade on twitter your thanks-and tell him his dog is super cute.
So, with literally our ONLY bill until december out of the way, here’s what that means going forward:
- Any contributions to the ko-fi going forward will be kept to help pay any and all contributors to the blog. This includes artists, writers, audio work, etc. I can not currently comment on the frequency of these additional contributors. I refuse to host people’s work unless I can compensate them for their time, even if they stipulate they’re okay with not being paid. The reason for this is really simple. I very much advocate for paying people what they are worth, and start frothing at the mouth when I see unpaid internships. I can not, in good faith, NOT pay people for their work. So rest easy knowing your donations are going towards helping people new to sex work, erotica and more. Let’s be the support we all wish we had when we first started our passions.
- Around November, I am going to start splitting the donations between paying contributors and saving to help pay for the hosting bill. It’s going to be roughly $130 dollars, and while this isn’t a huge number at all, any amount will totally help.
- I stated on Twitter and CuriousCat that if we reached our monthly $15 dollars for SoundCloud hosting, I’ll cum on air once a month. As that small bill is no longer a worry, I will be producing such audio at least once a week, health/time permitting. I am very much open to suggestions on how to select the audios chosen for this. If you would like to leave it up to my personal judgement, that is fine by me. You can also shoot me a DM on twitter and specifically ask for a certain audio to have me orgasm on it.
That takes care of all our “Behind the scenes” bits. Here’s a few more items I want to touch on:
Our last fiction work, Helena Pt. 2, will begin today. It is going to be a long read, and I’d like to devote my attention to it today. Audio will be posted later if I’ve an opportunity between work, et al. Helena will be the LAST fiction story I work on before beginning work on SUMMER HEAT, our interactive fiction work.
SUMMER HEAT, in case you forgot or didn’t know, will be an “interactive fiction” title in which the player is offered a job at a nearby farm. The only thing is, the owner didn’t stipulate what kind of farm it was. Upon arriving, the player finds that they’re in charge of taking care of monstergirls! SUMMER HEAT will feature three unique paths, branching dialogue and multiple endings. It will be wrote using the Twine engine, which you can read about and download here. It will be playable through any modern browser-no need to worry about your computer’s specs or OS. Each individual play through will be about 30-45 minutes long.
Producing, coding and writing a game takes time. Conservatively I would like to have it done within a month, but between coding, writing, beta testing, grammar checks and more beta testing, it could easily take longer. Even as an advocate of the KISS (Keep it Simple, Silly) method, we could easily be looking at a March release depending on issues. While I WILL be taking fiction prompts during this time, I will NOT be writing them until the game is done, unless I need a break or something different. The audio queue will proceed as normal.
That’s about it for now! I would like to give a tremendous thanks to Chums yet again and all those who have contributed to the blog in any way. My goal when I started Splathouse three years ago was to produce inclusive smut for a diverse audience with no pay wall.
And here it is, the first month of 2019, and we’re making it happen.
I love you deviants.
